Facilitating Online Across Cultures
(100% online)
Online learning today takes place in a culturally diverse space where different styles of communication and interaction can be confusing. Join other facilitators from the global south and north in learning to facilitate online courses while successfully navigating cultural differences. You will look critically at articles about facilitation strategies, experiment with your own approach to facilitating sample assignments, and practice supporting and challenging each other’s ideas through this online forum.
This course was part of a North-South collaboration project with Centro Boliviano de Estudios Multidisciplinarios (CEBEM) in Bolivia.
"I had not thought about the bias inherent in the Internet before this course. I have a better understanding about the amount of work it will take to facilitate an online course and some of the challenges I may have with students."
"It was interesting to see how our cultural backgrounds had an influence on how we introduced ourselves."
"I learned a great deal from how people answered the module questions. We approached them in different ways, which may or may not have had to do with our cultural background."
